Bloomberg to be the Auction Platform for UK Carbon Allowances in …

This will be the first-ever auction of UK Carbon Allowances. The United
Kingdom Debt Management Office (“DMO”), the Executive Agency of Her Majesty’s
Treasury for the auction of UK EU Emissions Trading System (“ETS”) allowances,
will conduct the auction on behalf of the Department of Energy and Climate
Change (DECC). Since 2006, the DMO has used the Bloomberg Bond Auction System for the
collection of bids at all auctions of UK Government securities (gilts). Bloomberg has enhanced its auction system to facilitate the auction of
UK-issued EU Allowances, reflecting its ongoing commitment to the development
and support of the global financial markets.

Hutchinson files suit over auction-rate securities

is suing two banking giants, saying the firms argued it was safe to buy about $100 million in auction-rate securities when they knew otherwise. The lawsuits, which the Hutchinson-based maker of parts for disk drives filed Monday, target. One suit accuses UBS of “massive fraud,” saying the company told Hutchinson (Nasdaq: HTCH) the securities were safe when they were aware the market for such investment tools was suffering.
